FAQs for products
Q: What Are The Main Advantages Of WPC products?
First of all, the wood plastic materials are 100% recyclable; it is long-lasting, stable for the outdoor conditions, like sun exposure, rain, temperature ariations etc; it requires low maintenance; etc
Q: Why the keel is neceary for the intallation?
When we install the flooring, firstly the keels are fixed in the ground surface with the T-clip and then we put the solid decking board on the keels. You know the wpc decking board can’t be put on the ground surface directly. For one thing, it can affect of the planeness of the flooring surface after installation. For the other thing, it is not good to control the drainage of the bottom, because the wpc decking board is mainly used for outdoor, which rains a lot. So keels must be used to hold the solid decking board when installed.
Q: If there is one piece of the decking board broken, do we need to remove all the decking board to repair it?
No. If replce the broken decking, you need to break the clips of both sides of the broken decking and then take the broken decking out, it’s easy.
Q: What temperature the decking can bear?
-40°to 60°
Q: The density and the strength of the decking?
The density of our wpc decking is 1.3%-1.4%(1300-1400kgs/cbm). The strength of the hollow one is about 320kgs (That’s to say, based on the space between the keels of 35cm, the decking surface can bear the weight of 320kgs.) and the strength of the solid one is 400kgs-500kgs.(That’s to say, based on the space between the keels of 35cm, the decking surface can bear the weight of 400kgs-500kgs.)
Q: Will color fade because of exposure to the sun?
ULTRA-VIOLET inhibitors have been added to our decking to reduce color fading due to extensive sun exposure. A slight change in color will occur but will retain this lighter shade through out the life of the product.
Q: How should wpc be stored and handled?
Whether at the timber merchant premises or at your own house awaiting installation, wpc should be stored in a dry, flat area under roof. Failure to keep packs dry in storage can lead to the growth of mould spores on boards. When moving product around, wpc should be carried on its edge.
Q: How do I cover the “hollow” ends?
With wpc products that have hollow sections, it is common to cover exposed ends with “end-caps” (available in all colours). This will avoid avoid potential water /moisture penetration as well as spiders and cockroaches. To give the best effect, it is suggested that either end-caps or fascia board is used.
Q: Are there special tools required for working with wpc?
With wpc you can use standard power saws and drills. As with using any power tools, safety glasses and face masks should be used when cutting or drilling wpc. The wpc “sawdust” is a coarse, heavy sawdust that doesn’t tend to “float” in the air. This makes it very safe for handling.
Q: Is WPC suitable for use around swimming pools?
Yes definitely, however we do we recommend any area that gets wet be well ventilated.
Q: Can WPC be used by the sea?
wpc is ideal in a marine environment, being unaffected by salt air.
Q: Is it termite resistant?
Yes.
Q: Is WPC slippery?
No! It has a textured surface and is very good for use around wet areas such as spas, pools, marinas etc.
Q: Can WPC be installed to both timber and metal framing systems?
Yes! The clip fastener is used on both systems but the screw for the metal is a self-tapper. Please specify to your supplier whether you are using timber or metal framing.
Q: Does it burn?
WPC is “non-combustible” but as with all materials, it is damaged by fire.
Q: What is the recommended spanning distance?
450mm for residential use and 400mm for commercial purposes.
Q: How big is the gap between the deck boards?
Using the clip system the space is automatically set at 6mm.
Q: When WPC Decking gets wet, will it become slippery?
Compared to wood, WPC Decking will not get as slippery. It has approximately the same coefficient of friction as smooth asphalt.
